  • Walt Disney spent part of his childhood in Marceline, Missouri which became an inspiration for Main Street U.S.A. at Disneyland
  • Before Mickey Mouse, Disney created a character called Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, but he lost the rights to use Oswald to Universal. The Disney Company bought back the rights in 2006.
  • Mickey Mouse was originally named Mortimer, but Disney's wife suggested he change it to Mickey.
  • Snow White was the first feature length animated film to ever be released.
  • Disney wanted a small park for his employees and their children built across from his studio in Burbank and over time this idea became the 160-acre Disneyland.
  • E.P.C.O.T. was originally a city Disney wanted to build on the property of Disney World, but this dream was never realized and instead it became the basis for Disney World's second amusement park.
  • One of Disney's hobbies was miniature trains and he built a railroad track in his backyard.
  • Walt Disney has one the most Oscars (32) and was nominated 64 times.
  • The Disney family ancestry goes back to France where their name was D'Isigney.
